The Nasdaq outpaced other major Wall Street indexes on Thursday as Alphabet shares surged, while investors looked forward to monthly payrolls data for clues on the Federal Reserve's policy actions. .N

At 13:31 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI was up 0.26% at 36,146.43. The S&P 500 .SPX was up 0.78% at 4,584.72 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC was up 1.31% at 14,331.486.
