US Cash Products-Gulf Coast diesel rises on buyer demand

- Cash differentials rose for diesel in the U.S. Gulf Coast spot market on Thursday after a few bidders tried to buy supplies, traders said.

U.S. Gulf Coast 62-grade ultra-low sulfur diesel ULSD-DIFF-USG gained half a cent to trade 7.75 cents below October ULSD futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange HOc1, traders said.

Gasoline grades fell slightly in light trade on the last day to book deliveries on Colonial pipeline's 50th annual cycle of deliveries to New York Harbor.

Gulf Coast M2 conventional gasoline RU-DIFF-USG fell quarter of a cent to 6 cents above October gasoline futures, and A2 CBOB gasoline CBOB-DIFF-USG fell quarter of a cent to 6.25 cents below futures, traders said.

Cenovus's 183,000 barrel-per-day Lima refinery will undergo planned maintenance from week, the company said. The outage could tighten Midwest markets. REF/OUT

Chicago CBOB gasoline CBOB-DIFF-MC was unchanged at 3 cents below October futures, market participants said.

Chicago ULSD ULSD-DIFF-MC gained 5 cents to a cent below October futures.

Elsewhere in the Midwest, Group 3 V-grade gasoline RUV-DIFF-G3 gained half a cent to trade 12 cents below the September RBOB benchmark RBc1. Group 3 diesel ULSD-DIFF-G3 gained a cent to a cent above futures.

In New York Harbor, M2 conventional gasoline RU-DIFF-NYH fell half a cent to 1.5 cents above futures, traders said. Harbor diesel ULSD-DIFF-NYH was unchanged.

Energy futures rose on mounting supply disruptions in Libya and plans for lower production cuts in Iraq month. O/R

RBOB futures rose 3.29 cents to settle at $2.2477 a gallon on Thursday, whereas ULSD futures gained 5.49 cents to $2.284.

Renewable fuel (D6) credits RIN-D6-US for 2024 rose to 58 cents, from 56.5 cents and 57 cents each in the previous session, traders said.

Biomass-based (D4) credits RIN-D4-US also traded at 58 cents, from 57 cents and 56.75 cents each earlier, they said.
