MEXICO CITY, July 23 (Reuters) - Mexico's largest broadcaster Televisa TLEVISACPO.MX on Tuesday posted a second-quarter loss of 25.6 million pesos ($1.4 million), dragged down by labor costs and a fall in revenue from satellite TV disconnections.
The loss for the quarter compared with a profit of 133.5 million pesos in the same period last year.
Satellite TV unit Sky saw about 262,000 disconnections in the quarter, while Televisa's cable segment lost 11,000 users after ending a pay TV channel following sports.
"The results reflect our focus on high-value customers and we continue working to further reduce disconnections," the company said in a statement.
Televisa's revenues slipped 5.8% year-over-year to 15.72 billion pesos, missing an estimate of 17.21 billion pesos from analysts polled by LSEG.
The firm's costs were also up in the quarter, primarily due to severance payments from laying off employees in its cable TV and Sky units, Televisa said.
